This project proposes the design for a residential area based on two different densities: a system of courtyards on the west side and isolated villas on the east side. This strategy defines not a monotonous and repetitive residential intervention, but a real part of a city, where variations in its spaces, materials and colours represent the idea of urban complexity. It is the model for a new green city following the principles of social, economic and environmental sustainability that is capable of connecting with both the urban context and its natural surrounding landscape. The project site is at the threshold between city and landscape, with a dense residential district to the north and a cultivated area to the south. The idea behind the project is to synthesize these two aspects by working on a liminal area in order to mediate between urban and rural features.
